1. Acceptance of These Terms

By submitting a registration form, profile, letter, or other materials to Snail Dating, you agree to these Terms and Conditions and the Snail Dating Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not submit the form or participate in the program.

2. About Snail Dating

Snail Dating is an independently operated introduction and correspondence program. It is intended to help participants connect through mail and related communications. Snail Dating may review registration information, consider participant preferences and other factors, and decide whether, when, and how to introduce participants.

Snail Dating is not a marriage broker, background check service, counseling service, law firm, mental health provider, or guarantor of participant identity, intentions, compatibility, conduct, or safety.

3. Eligibility

By submitting a registration, you represent and warrant that:

  1. you are at least 18 years old

  2. all information you provide is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge

  3. you are participating on your own behalf

  4. your participation is lawful where you live

  5. you have not previously been removed or prohibited from participating in Snail Dating

Snail Dating may reject or remove any registration at any time for any lawful reason.

4. No Guarantee of Match or Outcome

Submission of a registration does not guarantee acceptance into the program, a match, any number of matches, any response, any ongoing communication, or any particular personal outcome. Snail Dating may decline to match any participant, may pause or end the program, and may discontinue communication at any time.

5. No Screening Guarantee

Snail Dating does not promise that it conducts criminal background checks, sex offender registry checks, identity verification, address verification, reference checks, or other screening of participants.

Even if Snail Dating chooses to review or verify any information, no screening is complete or foolproof. You remain solely responsible for your own decisions, communications, and safety.

6. Participant Responsibilities

You agree that you will:

  1. participate honestly and in good faith

  2. communicate respectfully

  3. not harass, threaten, stalk, defraud, impersonate, exploit, or abuse any person

  4. not submit false, misleading, defamatory, obscene, hateful, discriminatory, or unlawful content

  5. not use Snail Dating to collect personal information for unrelated marketing, surveillance, or commercial purposes

  6. not send spam, scams, malware, or fraudulent communications

  7. stop contacting another participant if they ask you to stop or if Snail Dating instructs you to stop

7. Safety and Assumption of Risk

Participation in Snail Dating is voluntary and at your own risk. Communicating with strangers involves inherent risks, including fraud, deception, emotional harm, privacy loss, reputational harm, and possible physical safety risks if participants choose to meet or exchange sensitive information.

You assume all risks arising out of or related to your participation, including any letters, packages, communications, disclosures, interactions, or in person meetings involving another participant.

You should never send money, banking information, copies of identity documents, passwords, or other highly sensitive information to another participant.

8. Registration Materials and Participant Content

You retain ownership of the content you submit, including your written responses, introductory letters, photos, and profile information, subject to the rights you grant below.

By submitting materials to Snail Dating, you grant the operator of Snail Dating a worldwide, non exclusive, royalty free license to store, review, reproduce, format, adapt, and share your submitted materials as reasonably necessary to operate, administer, improve, and document the program, including to:

  1. review your registration

  2. evaluate compatibility or fit

  3. share some or all of your submitted materials with one or more potential matches

  4. maintain internal records

  5. create aggregated or de-identified summaries for program administration, evaluation, or improvement

You represent that you have the right to submit the materials and to grant this license.

9. Information You Should Not Submit

Do not submit Social Security numbers, passport numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial account information, health records, or other highly sensitive information. If you choose to include such information anyway, you do so at your own risk.

10. Communications from Snail Dating

By registering, you consent to receive service-related communications from Snail Dating, including emails or other messages about your registration, participation, matching status, administrative matters, and program updates.

If Snail Dating offers optional newsletters or promotional communications, you may opt out of those communications as described in the message. Service-related communications may still be sent as needed for active participation.

11. Fees

Participation in Snail Dating may require payment or fees, which will be clearly disclosed before payment is requested. Any such fees are nonrefundable unless Snail Dating states otherwise in writing.

12. Right to Refuse, Suspend, or Remove Participation

Snail Dating may reject, suspend, limit, or terminate any registration or participation at any time, with or without notice, for any lawful reason, including safety concerns, suspected fraud, policy violations, inactivity, or administrative burden.

13. Disclaimers

Snail Dating and all related materials and services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Snail Dating disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, noninfringement, availability, accuracy, and security.

Snail Dating does not warrant that:

  1. any participant is truthful, safe, or compatible

  2. any match will occur

  3. any communication will continue

  4. any correspondence or interaction will be safe, wanted, or successful

  5. the program will be uninterrupted or error free

14. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Snail Dating and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, goodwill, reputation, opportunity, or profits, arising out of or related to the program or your participation.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the total aggregate liability of Snail Dating and its operator for any claim arising out of or relating to the program or these Terms will not exceed the greater of:

  1. the total amount, if any, you paid to Snail Dating in the 12 months before the claim arose, or

  2. $100

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Snail Dating and its operator from and against claims, liabilities, losses, damages, judgments, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of or related to:

  1. your participation in the program

  2. your submitted materials

  3. your communications or conduct toward another participant

  4. your violation of these Terms

  5. your violation of law or the rights of another person

16. Governing Law and Venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or Snail Dating must be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New York, New York, and you consent to jurisdiction and venue in those courts.

17. Injunctive Relief

You agree that misuse of participant information, misuse of Snail Dating materials, or violation of these Terms may cause irreparable harm for which monetary damages may be inadequate, and that Snail Dating may seek injunctive or equitable relief where permitted by law.

18. Intellectual Property

The Snail Dating name, branding, instructions, written materials, form structure, and related program content are owned by or licensed to the operator of Snail Dating and may not be copied, distributed, modified, or used without prior written permission, except as allowed by law.

19. Changes to These Terms

Snail Dating may revise these Terms from time to time. The updated version will become effective when posted or otherwise provided, unless a later date is stated. Your continued participation after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

20. Entire Agreement and Severability

These Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and Snail Dating regarding the program, except where a separate written agreement applies. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect to the fullest extent permitted by law.
